Pope Francis approves Mother Teresa for sainthood

Pope Francis recognized a second miracle attributed to Mother Teresa which makes her eligible for canonization in the Catholic Church.

Mother Teresa will be made a Catholic saint after Pope Francis approved a second miracle needed for her canonization, a move welcomed by the archbishop of Kolkata, India, as “a real Christmas gift” from the pontiff.

Francis took the step by signing a decree late Thursday declaring that the inexplicable 2008 recovery of a Brazilian man who suddenly woke from a coma caused by a viral brain infection was due to the intercession of the Albanian nun, who died at age 87 in 1997.
Mother Teresa, known as "the saint of the gutters," was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 after dedicating her life to working on behalf of the poor, particularly in the slums of Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta.)

Recently, it is said a Brazilian man was healed of brain tumors in 2008. BBC wrote, “It says he was unexpectedly cured from brain tumours in 2008 after his priest prayed for Mother Teresa’s intervention with God.”

Mother Teresa is well-known and respected for her faithful work in India’s slums. She grew up in Macedonia as a devout Catholic. In 1929, when she was 18-years-old, she joined an Irish convent and left for India as a missionary. She felt called to care for the poor so “she established Missionaries of Charity to serve the poorest of all,” wrote CNN.
She once described herself this way: “By blood, I am Albanian. By citizenship, an Indian. By faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the Heart of Jesus.”

“I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, he will not ask, ‘How many good things have you done in your life?’ rather he will ask, ‘How much love did you put into what you did?” ― Mother Teresa
The Roman Catholic nun will be sainted next year around the date of her death to remember her contribution to the world.
